Netflix announced the renewal of the breakout true-crime satire,American Vandal. The investigation continues with eight all-new episodes in 2018, exclusively on Netflix.American Vandalco-creators/executive producers Dan Perrault and Tony Yacenda, as well as showrunner/executive producer Dan Lagana, are slated to return. The streaming service also released a brief video announcing the return of thisNetflix original series.
From co-creators Tony Yacenda (Pillow Talking) and Dan Perrault (Honest Trailers), and showrunner Dan Lagana (Zach Stone Is Gonna Be Famous) comesAmerican Vandal, a half-hour true-crime satire that explores the aftermath of a costly high school prank that left 27 faculty cars vandalized with phallic images. Over the course of the eight-episode season, an aspiring sophomore documentarian investigates the controversial and potentially unjust expulsion of troubled Senior (and known dick-drawer) Dylan Maxwell. Not unlike its now iconic true-crime predecessors (i.e.Netflix’s Making a Murderer), the addictiveAmerican Vandalwill leave one question on everyone’s minds until the very end: Who drew the dicks?

The first eight-episode season of thisNetflix comedy seriesdebuted on September 15, and it has already won widespread critical acclaim and a huge fan base. The new trailer features a new voice over from documentarian Peter Maldanaldo, talking about how some can be born into “the perfect family, the perfect school, the perfect life, but can you be born above the law?” This voice over is done over numerous shots of a high school yearbook, presumably revealing the new high school students this new season will be focused on, and, given Peter’s narration, along with the matching outfits of the students in these photos, it seems this new season will be set at a private school this time around.
Series creators Tony Yacenda and Dan Perrault hinted in an interview shortly after the first seasondebuted on Netflixthat the second season will feature, “the same documentarians (Peter Maldanaldo and Griffin Gluck’s Sam Ecklund), but it will have a completely different feel.” Shifting the focus from a public school to a private school is certainly quite different, although, unfortunately, this trailer doesn’t clue us in as to what crime may be committed at this new school, which of these students featured in the photos are the victims, and which ones may or may not be the perpetrators of said crime.
