Continuing this saga of the original intentions, David Ayer, the director of the 2016 DC blockbusterSuicide Squadwas being kept a close eye on, hoping to be the next in line to receive the next Snyder Treatment from Warner Bros. by releasing anAyer Cutversion of the film.
And it looks like the fans might just get what they want.
Ayer Cut Screened In Secrecy?
David Ayerhas been vocal about his support for the grassroots campaign to release his version of the movie, with the director showing his passion for the project via social media. the director has been sharing little hints that tease about the cut’s existence. Back in October 2020, a tweet from the veteran filmmaker indicated that he saw his cut recently, potentially hinting that he might be working on it after all.
As of recent events, we have confirmation from The official Twitter account of the‘Release the Ayer Cut’movement, which revealed thatSuicide Squaddirector David Ayer screened his version of the movie to one of its admins.

The user shared that theAyer Cuthas a runtime of 2 hours and 23 minutes while also confirming that it is a“totally different story:”
Further, the admin talks about how the cut contained a more mature take on the whole premise of the film, combining it with deeper character arcs and development that made this version better in so many ways.
Will We Witness An “Ayer Cut”?
To put it simply. We don’t know.
This simple statement will still keep theAyer Cutin speculation of whether Warner Bros. will go ahead with the idea of letting us witness theSuicide Squadas it was intended to be in the original. But there is no denying the existence of a more mature, gritty, and fun unreleased version of the film out there. Plus, with the release ofSnyder CutofJustice League,the release ofAyer CutofSuicide Squaddoesn’t seem so implausible anymore.Until then, we can still look forward to the day that it becomes a reality.
And truth be told, it seems very likely that the day is not that far away.
