Apple today published ahandy, regularly updated listof all the newly announced television sets from major manufacturers that feature built-in support for the company’s proprietary AirPlay media-streaming technology and HomeKit, its software for the connected home.

Apple said ahead ofCES 2019that leading TV manufacturers would add support for its AirPlay 2 media-streaming protocol and the HomeKit framework for the connected home.

Already manufacturers such asSony,LG,Vizioand even Samsung have announced that the vast majority of their 2019 models will feature these integrations, with select 2018 models picking up support for AirPlay 2 and HomeKit via firmware upgrades.

AirPlay 2 support permits the user to send photos, videos and music, including their iTunes or Apple Music songs—and streaming videos from third-party apps like Netflix—to their TV.
Using the AirPlay controls in apps, on the Lock screen and in Control Center, customers can adjust playback and volume of their TV. And with limited Siri support, they can ask for a specific show to be played on a specific TV.

AirPlay 2 allow for mix’n’matching of your AirPlay 2 devices. As an example, you can do multi-room audio, like listen to a song playing simultaneously through your Smart TV and the AirPlay speakers in the room, with AirPlay 2 taking care that everything is synchronized perfectly.
And with Home app, customers can identify their TV set, turn it on/off remotely or add the device to a HomeKit scene so it can be triggered as part of a scene with a voice command.
