Graphics Settings for Assassin’s Creed Shadows on PS5

If you are playing Assassin’s Creed Shadows, there are two graphics settings you can mainly choose between with a third one that is exclusively available to 120Hz displays. These graphical settings are:

One thing you do have to remember is that Assassin’s Creed Shadows is the first game in the AC series to have adopted ray tracing effects. But for PS5, we have what is called RTGI, which stands for ray-traced global illumination. RTGI simulates how light reacts with the environment which creates more accurate and immersive lighting effects. This is, however, reserved for the Balanced and Quality mode with one exception we will talk about in a bit.

With Performance mode, we get to enjoy crisp 60 FPS gameplay with Baked GI instead. This form of global illumination is seen in previous AC titles such as Valhalla and Mirage. The only exception that we talked about earlier is the hideout area, where RTGI is enforced no matter what mode you are playing in. Moreover, this also locks you in at 30 FPS no matter what graphical setting you are on.

The Balanced mode is a great choice for players, the only drawback being its exclusivity to 120Hz High Frame Rate displays. It takes the best of both worlds by supporting a higher frame rate of 40 FPS with RTGI enabled.

Finally, we have the Quality mode, which, despite running at 30 FPS, can utilize everything the Anvil engine and the PS5 hardware has to offer. Ubisoft’s effort in making Assassin’s Creed Shadows the next-gen AC title is very clear. The visual upgrades, despite the lower frame rate, are completely worth it if you have a 4K display.

Graphical Settings for Assassin’s Creed Shadows on PS5 Pro

PS5 Pro is no different when it comes to graphical mode choices when compared to its predecessor. It still offers three of the same graphics settings as PS5, with each providing the same framerates. However, there is a major difference in one aspect of graphics in both the consoles.

Ray Traced Reflections is only reserved for PS5 Pro amongst all other consoles the game is playable on. This allows the game to look leaps and bounds better compared to other consoles that have to rely on RTGI. There is a considerable difference to the point that Assassin’s Creed Shadows looks like a completely different game on the PS5 Pro.
