Blue Princeliterally has a new puzzle around every corner, and after a while, it gets hard to keep track of the literal hundreds of clues and leads that fill the Mt. Holly Estate.
Blue Prince: Every Way to Enter the Basement
Every entrance to the Underground areas of Mt. Holly Estate.
Some of the most elusive puzzles in the game revolve around the seven secret safes found throughout Mt. Holly, each of which contains a significant red letter. We’ve found and cracked all seven of these safes, so if you’re in need of help, you’ve come to the right place.
The Boudoir Safe
If you’ve completed the “missing letter” puzzle in the Study, you’ll know by now that every safe is opened with a four-digit combination that corresponds to a significant date, which makes it a lot easier to determine the solution for each puzzle.
The Boudoir, a two-door bedroom, contains the easiest safe to crack, which is hiddenbehind the three-panel standnext to the couch. If you go over to the mirror on the table, you can pick up a small photo of the room decorated for Christmas. Christmas Day is December 25, or 12/25.
The combo for the Boudoir Safe is1225.
The Study Safe
We’ve found that the combination of each safe can usually be discovered inside the room it is in. One example of this is the Study safe, whose combination can be found on the chessboard on the table.
The chess piece is on D8, and since we know that the combo is a date, we can deduce that “D” stands for December, making December 8 the date in question.
The combination for the Study safe is1208.
The Drafting Studio Safe
The Drafting Studio safe requires the player to have amagnifying glassin their inventory to unlock it. To access the keypad, interact with the miniature safe inside the white model of the Study on the table across from the calendar, then use the magnifying glass on the keypad.
The solution to this puzzle is found on the calendar, where the “first day” is marked on the calendar as November 7. The actual date that we’re looking for is the day after the first day,November 8.
The combination for the Drafting Studio safe is1108.
The Office Safe
Inside the Office, open up the right-side drawer behind the desk with the computer, then twist the knob inside to reveal the safe under one of the busts. Next to the nob is a list of books, with the “March of the Count” being the only one written in black ink.
You’ll need to count the number of mini-busts in the room of the Count, whose full-size bust sits atop the safe. There are three in total scattered around the room, and with the month of March factored into this, the date we’re looking for is March 3.
The combination for the Office safe is0303.
The Drawing Room Safe
Take a look at the painting in the middle of the Drawing Room, and look behind the man’s right shoulder (our left). One of the candlesticks has an arm that is ajar, uneven to the candlestick on the other side. Walk over to the left candle stick and interact with the arm to tilt it, revealing the safe behind a painting to the left.

All four solutions to the mind-boggling art pieces in the Gallery room.
To find the numbers, look at the paintings in the room and count how many there are of the woman with a small step (four in total), and a man with a large step (fifteen in total).
The combination for the Drawing Room safe is0415.
The Shelter Safe
The Shelter Safe is the only safe without an actual combination to enter. Instead, you will need to interact with the computer next to it and set a time and date for the safe to unlock on its own. This time and date must be at least one hour after the current time and date on the day you are attempting to open the safe.
You can find the current date displayed on the desk inside the Vault, or in the Study next to the Great Hall model. You can also do some math, adding your current day count (viewable in the inventory screen) to the date of November 6 (the day before the first day). The current time is displayed on all the clocks inside and outside the house, so verify to set it at least an hour after the current time (round up if you need to).
The Shelter safe will open at thetime and dateyou set for it to open, automatically.
The Underground “Safe”
The final (and most difficult) “safe” is hidden in the underground basement, past the rotating platforms in a small hallway protruding from the left-hand side of the tunnel. You’ll come up to a locked red door with no way to open it, as it requires a power source to activate the mechanism.
You’ll need to draft the Boiler Room and redirect the steam power to the red box on the floor of the room. When it is properly powered, the light on the red box will turn blue, and you can head back to the red door in the Underpass.
Before you head through the Red Door you will need to raise the rotating platform using one of the mechanisms in the rooms surrounding the circle. Raise the platform, then use the lower platform to get back to the tunnel. Align the upper platform with the upper room one rotation counter-clockwise to the tunnel entrance (one to the right).
Now you’re able to head through the Red Door and up the long metal walkway, then cross to one of the two rooms before going back and rotating the platform to access the other room across the gap.
One of these rooms will be blocked by a metal door with a padlock. Examining the padlock reveals that the fourth digit has the only number on the device, an 8. The only month of the year spelt with three letters is May, making the date May 8.
