Capcomhas announced thatPlayStation, Xbox, and PCusers will enjoy an additional 24 hours inMonster Hunter Wilds’second beta following the PSN outage.
Monster Hunter Wilds' Second Beta Gets Extended
The weekend of February 8-9, 2025, will be remembered for the ‘global catastrophe’ that was the PlayStation Network server crash. Millions of players were unable to access online features on PS5 and PS4, with some even unable to play physical games on their consoles.
One of the most affected titles wasMonster Hunter Wilds, which was celebrating the first week of its second open beta. While Xbox and PC players encountered no issues, PS5 users were unable to play.
The community is outraged at Sony PlayStation for what they consider a poor compensation (five extra days of PS Plus) for such a major outage. Now, Capcom has stepped in with an important announcement.
For the second week ofMonster Hunter Wilds’beta 2, the Japanese company confirms that the test will be extended by 24 additional hours on all platforms.
Thus, PS5, Xbox Series, and PC players will get one extra day to experience the beta, just ahead of the game’s global launch on June 08, 2025.
“Hunters, we are pleased to confirm that due to the PlayStation Network outage during the first week of the second beta test, we are extending the second week by +24 hours on all platforms!“the official Monster Hunter account announced.
One More Day of Hunting
The second week of Monster Hunter Wilds' beta 2 begins on Friday, February 14, at 4:00 AM (Spanish time). Initially planned to end in the early hours of Monday, it will now be extended by an additional 24 hours.
This means thatPS5, Xbox, and PCplayers will be able to enjoy beta 2 until Tuesday, February 18, at 3:59 AM, effectively running into the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Although this extension serves as a ‘compensation’ for the PSN outage, the extra playtime is also granted to Xbox and Steam (PC) players, ensuring fairness across all platforms.
Additionally, Capcom has confirmed that beta 2 rewards will be redeemable without any issues and can be claimed in the final version ofMonster Hunter Wilds.
While Capcom earns praise from the PlayStation community for this gesture, Sony faces harsh criticism for its inadequate response to such a severe issue. PSN servers were down for a significant portion of the weekend, preventing not only online gameplay and PS Plus catalog access but also affecting external disc readers for PS5 Digital and PS5 Pro, which require an internet connection to function. As a result, many users were unable to play their favorite games.
Monster Hunter Wilds, one of the most highly anticipated games, now has an extended second beta week from February 14 to 18. The final release for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam) is set for July 17, 2025.
