While theMacreceived an officialdark modeoption inmacOS Mojave, iOS wasn’t so fortunate. You can use the Smart Invert feature on youriPhoneto achieve a similar effect, but it’s not a real dark mode in the sense of what many would like to have.
Luckily, the jailbreak community conceived a plethora of dark mode-centricjailbreak tweaksin recent memory that can help, and a new free release calledDarkTablesby iOS developerdpkg_is no exception.
Many jailbreak tweaks that have been made to simulate a dark mode-like experience on iOS focus primarily onappsand their user interfaces. DarkTables works in tandem with these types of tweaks to extend dark mode-esque features to more elements that comprise of the iOS user interface, such as UIAlertController-based pop-up menus.
In thescreenshotexamples above and below, you may see how DarkTables impacts your iPhone’s user interface:
Post-installation, you’ll find a preference pane in the Settings app where you can configure a few options:
Here, you can:
The developer includes arespringbutton at the bottom of the preference pane so that you can save your changes.
We particularly enjoy the feature that lets you switch between dark more and true black mode because true black mode will look much better onOLEDdisplays, such as what comes on theiPhone X, because they can switch off individual pixels to display pitch-black colors and savepoweras a result.
Because DarkTables primarily focuses on the various menus that you might find iniOS, we strongly recommend pairing it with system-wide dark mode tweaks likeEclipseorNoctisto experience the full dark mode effect everywhere else in iOS.
If you’re interested in trying DarkTables, then you candownload it for free from Cydia’s BigBoss repository. The tweak is compatible alljailbrokeniOS 11 devices.
