Digimon Survive, the latest entry to the beloved virtual pet franchise has confirmed its release date to be July 16, 2025.
Digimon Survive Worldwide Release Date Confirmed for August 08, 2025
Part visual novel, part turn-based RPGDigimon Survivefinally has a release date! The title was initially intended to launchworldwide back in 2019but gotdelayed to 2022. After years of teasing and beingdrip-fed information, producer Kazumasa Habu confirms the worldwide release will be on July 12, 2025. This will actually be quite a busy day for JRPG fans, asXenoblade Chronicles 3 was also confirmedto release on this date.
In the producer update video uploaded on April 20th, Habu goes on to say that they will be giving us even more information in the coming weeks, so stay tuned for those updates.

Digimon Survive - The Story So Far
While there hasn’t been too much public information available for Digimon Survive, we have been able to piece together some of the exciting features of the game. This title is also being released in part for the celebration of the 25th Anniversary of the Digimon Anime.
Digimon Survive will feature a full new cast of characters. Led by teenager Takuma Momozuka (who quite resembles the original series’ Taichi, complete with goggles), the characters are thrust into an unfamiliar world as they explore an ancient local temple.
It is here they are introduced to the strange land, filled with amazing monsters, the Digimon. Some of them are friendly, and some of them are more devious. It will be up to Takuma to navigate the world with his friends Kaito and Miu Shinonome, Shuuji Kayama, Saki Kimishima, Ryo Tomonaga, Minoru Hyuga, and Aoi Shibuya.
Each human will be paired up with a Digimon that compliments the teens’ personalities.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Train Them
Of course, it wouldn’t be a Digimon game if you couldn’t collect, train, and do battle with these majestic monsters. Digimon Survive will feature about 113 Digimon to tame and train. The roster will be a mix of old and new Digimon. From the available footage, we can see the return of classic Digimon. These include Agumon, Greymon, Garurumon, and Numemon, among others.
Players will be able to care for other wild Digimon, so you won’t be stuck with Agumon the entire game. Evolutions will also be tied to key story moments and the choices the player makes in the game. No specifics have been mentioned at the moment. For the partner Digimon specifically, you will also need to earn their trust if they are to successfully evolve.
The Core Gameplay Loop
Digimon Survive will be split into a few distinct gameplay modes, according to Habu. The game will primarily be a visual novel and will take up about 70% of the total playtime. Turn-based combat will make up roughly 30% of the game.
Our Visual Novel
The Visual Novel segment will also be further split up into more sections called “Free Expedition” and “Exploration”. Free Expedition will have the player primarily explore the various maps, talk to their friends, and do free battles, among other things. Exploration on the other hand will be triggered during the main quest. This mode will have players do investigations through their phone’s camera, allowing them to see things that may otherwise be hidden. Think of a hidden object game wherein you will need to search detailed backdrops and find items lying in plain sight.
Digimon Survive’s story will last for approximately 40 hours, split up into 12 different chapters. There will be a lot of replayability, however as the story will branch out later on into three options, namely “Morality”, “Harmony”, and “Rage”. These will be mutually exclusive stories based on player decisions, and will also influence how characters perceive you and how your Digimon evolves.
There will also be a new game plus mode that will import your levels, unlocked Digivolutions, items and wild Digimon captured.
Battle Monsters
Battles on the other hand are your traditional grid-basedtactical RPGcombat. Monsters’ speed will be the determining factor on turn order, so that may be something players wish to prioritize. Players will need to successfully navigate the battlefield and position their Digimon in optimal positions. They will also need to think tactically, balancing the use of powerful attacks or Digivolving their units into stronger forms.
