As someone who has played just about everySouls-like there is on the market, I have found something out about myself. No matter the theme of the game, what the meta-strategy is,or what options are available, I will always choose to be a melee character with a sword so big it’s beyond comprehension. Big swords are simply the best, and if you agree with this notion and want to add some more incredible weapons to your arsenal courtesy of theShadow of the ErdtreeDLC, then you are in the right place.

The Stage Is Set For A Battle In Belurat

The DLC packs a bunch of cool weapons into the new and exciting content on offer, but the one we want to focus on here is theAncient Meteoric Ore Greatsword, an item that can be found in the Ruined Forge of Starfall Past. Even if you’re in this dungeon, however, you may still have trouble locating it, but fear not, as we won’t let you leave until you have it in your possession.

Where is the Ancient Meteoric Greatsword Located?

As mentioned above, the Ancient Meteoric Ore Greatsword is located in the Ruined Forge of Starfall Past. This is a dungeon located southwest of the Moorth Ruins. It can be hard to spot as it is a small doorway on the side of a large ruin. But if you trace the wall facing out toward the cliff edge, you’ll find your way in.

The Sword is only accessible if you navigate the dungeon and use a series of levers to create a pathway to the Altar where this item is found. So, to verify you find your way around, we have a handy walkthrough.

This area begins with the Site of Grace, so touch this and rest before getting started. The initial area has a few basic cleaver enemies that you’ll need to dispatch, so attempt to aggro these one by one and handle them.

They aren’t tough and will go down easily. In this room, you’ll want to pick up theSmithscript Spearfrom a nearby corpse, and you’ll want to stock up onSmithing Stone [3], as they are in good supply in this dungeon.

Once cleared, pull the lever on the right-hand side of the gate on the raised platform, and this will raise this gate, taking you to the next area. Along the narrow hall leading there, you’ll need to put your shield up to block the Magma Blob’s ranged attacks up ahead and then dispatch them when up close.

When in this new area, it will introduce you to a new, tough enemy variant. A Blacksmith Giant. This creature carries a bowl of magma on its head and will swill you with it if you give it the chance. These guys are absolute damage sponges, so the key to defeating these enemies is by getting behind them and landing heavy attacks on the little crystal on their back. This will open them up for a backstab, and then it’s a case of rinse and repeat until you’re done.

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree – How to Get the Beast Claw Fist Weapon

Claw your way to victory with this new weapon type.

After this, head down the hall ahead, and you’ll see another Magma Blob which fires ranged attacks. But be wary, as there is one waiting to strike in a little nook on your right, so run ahead, tuck into that nook to avoid the ranged attacks, and then take out the Melee Magma Blob. Then, run ahead and take out the other one to proceed.

You’ll come to a ladder, but up ahead is a room with a corpse holding aSomber Smithing Stone [7]. If that interests you, you’ll need to fight a Melee version of the Blacksmith Giant. In principle, the strategy of getting behind and landing heavy blows remains effective, but note that these variants are more dangerous due to their variety of hard-hitting melee attacks. Oh, and watch out for their falling/elbow drop attack: it’s a doozy.

After this, return to the ladder and climb on up. This will take you to a room with Magma Blob’s and Blacksmith Giants. There’s aSomber Smithing Stone [8]in the area below the raised platform ahead, but the easiest way through here is to avoid all enemies on the lower level and rush to the Magma Blob up top and kill them, before just heading forward and ignoring the others.

This will then take you to an area where you can drop down to the raised platform with the next lever. But before that, head into the nearby room with a corpse with an item. This is holding theSmithing Talisman, which is worth nabbing, but be wary because as soon as you do, Magma Blobs will drop from the ceiling, and considering the volume of enemies in that tight space, the best course of action is to get out of there and avoid engaging if possible.

After this, hop down and activate the next lever, and don’t worry about the sitting Blacksmith Giant; they won’t animate unless you fight them. Once the gate opens, head on through and rush into the area to grab theSmithscript Cirquenear the waterfall. Do not jump. I repeat, do not jump. You will die, and while that would be hilarious, we need to keep the ball rolling here.

Two Giants will animate and follow you as you head back out of the room, but they are slow, so you’ll have enough time to do the final step. On your way out, you’ll notice a lever that closes the gate from the other side. It seems useless at first, but if you activate it and hop on the gate as it rises, it acts as a bridge that allows you to cross to the platform on the right.

So do this, hop on, and then head up to the Altar and light the flame. This will give you your rewards for completing the dungeon. AnAncient Dragon Smithing Stone, and the marquee item we came in search of, the Ancient Meteoric Ore Greatsword.

Is The Ancient Meteoric Greatsword Good?

The Ancient Meteoric Ore Greatsword is a weapon that will suit physical melee build users down to the ground, as this one focuses purely on base damage and critical damage above all else. You won’t be able to equip it with any incantations or ashes of war, but it makes up for it with a brilliant max damage output when fully upgraded.

Plus, if that wasn’t enough to sell you on this weapon, it also has an ability called White Light Charge. This ability sees the player move forward at pace, covering a lot of ground in one smooth motion, and then casts a small AOE white lightning attack. And if you add theSpear Talismaninto the mix, this sword only gets more ridiculously powerful.

In short, this is a contender for one of the finest additions to the game, courtesy of theShadow of the Erdtree DLCdue to its massive damage output and outstanding Ash of War ability. It’s not going to suit any Arcane users, but if you are a meathead and love swinging a big ol' sword, this one fits the bill perfectly.
