Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtreeis filled to the brim with exploratory prospects, and while a lot of it usually has to do with finding loot in the world, it’s more about taking down optional bosses. The Board riding Gaius is one of those individuals as he gets one of the largest arenas in the expansion, although his move set is a little lacking.
Regardless, finding him can be tricky as he’s a little bit off the beaten path. Like a lot of the game, he’s linked to the massiveShadow Keep, but unlike a lot of the areas and bosses,Gaiusis directly found within, or at least just outside the keep itself.
Shadow Keep
Coming into theShadow Keep, players can come in from the eastern church district or from the front. The latter requires you to face a boss while the former will require you to take a detour to get there. If you wish to come from the east to avoid the boss, all you need to do is go to theMoorth Ruinsand get to theBonny Village. Simply follow the road all the way to theShadow Keep, avoiding the rather-intimidating furnace golem.
Specimen Storehouse
This is technically the better route only because it brings you straight to the back area of theSpecimen Storehouse. Simply follow the linear progression through this area until you finally get to the top of the Keep and next to the Loft grace. Take the elevator up where you will be met with bats and a fire knight. When you get to the fire knight, you’ll know you are going in the right direction. Simply ignore him and the elevator to his left, instead taking the next ladder down. Drop onto the platform below or take the ladder.
Breath of Fresh Air
After this, you will find yet another elevator. Take this down to find, you guessed it, another elevator. Down here you will come across theBack Gategrace with two doorways. If you wish to go to the Hinterlands, the room to the right will see you there, provided you have theO Mother gesture. If not, outside you will find the boar rider himself, someone who’s not as difficult to overcome as we thought.
