This tally shattered the record set last month by Disney’sBeauty and the Beast, which was watched 127.6 million times. It also easily surpassesFifty Shades Darker(114 million views) andStar Wars: The Force Awakens(112 million views) to set a new world record, but with the first trailer forStar Wars: Episode VIIIreportedly debuting in the first quarter of 2017, it may not be long until this record is broken.

The event itself, which streamed live on Facebook, was watched over 4 million times to date.
The trailer was watched approximately 38.8 times in North America and 49.5 million overseas on both the YouTube and Facebook platforms. 18.5 million views came from third-party sources, with an additional 32 million views coming from the social media accounts of stars likeVin DieselandDwayne Johnson. Both stars have a combined social media presence of more than 270 million followers, including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Universal has set an July 19, 2025 release date forThe Fate of The Furious, which will go up against Open Road Films' animated movieSpark.
