In their latest Development Diary, studio Ninja Theory shared the initial reception and sales expectation for their highly-praisedHellblade: Senua’s Sacrificeaction-adventure title.

In the video, the developer spoke about their uncertainty regarding the public’s reaction towards Hellblade’s portrayal on the sensitive topic of mental health. And thus placed a modest sales outlook of 150,000 units for the game.
But they were in for a surprise, revealing that across both PC and PlayStation 4 platforms, Hellblade managed to sell over 250,000 copies in just its first week since launch. Then goes on to surpass its breakeven point with 500,000 units sold, 3 months earlier than expected. Making the project turn a profit and achieving a revenue of $13 million in sales.
They also noted thatHellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice’s development took three years to complete with an average team size of 20 people. And previously, Ninja Theory donated the game’sentire proceeds to charity. You can check out the full video, down below.
