Like a Dragon Gaiden – how to access and use the Akame Network
Akameis your ticket to much of the substory content you can complete in Like a Dragon Gaiden. She is also a key player in the overall story.To find Akame and access her network, you need to play through the early parts of the campaign’s second chapter.
Near the very start ofChapter 2: Castle on the Water, following a conversation withTsuruno, you make your way toSotenbori, Osaka. This is the neighborhood where most of the game takes place. You start by visiting several glowing points on the map to ask about Akame. Your investigation ultimately prompts a scripted brawl with someThugs. When you win, Akame introduces herself as a “jack-of-all-trades” and takes you to her hideout. It becomes your new base of operations.
Once Akame brings you back to her base, talk to her to advance the story. She gradually introduces various features of the base and theAkame Network. you’re able to also rest on the couch in the corner to advance time. When a symbol of an eye appears over Akame’s head, that means you can talk to her about Akame Network business. Occasionally, she also accepts gifts of cigarettes.
Requests, support, and activities
The hideout is where you accept any pendingRequests. Typically, you can accept only one request at a time. Then the one you have accepted plays out immediately. One request introduced later in the campaign, a scavenger hunt calledGotta Catch ’em Balls!, remains active while you tend to other business.
Most requests aren’t available until you satisfy certain requirements, which may include completing specific earlier requests. Some requests are tied to your progress through the campaign.

Besides requests, you can complete smaller missions that appear on aSupport Map. Although a lot of requests have a more involved substory attached, support activities (sometimes calledStroll n’ Patrol) typically require you to run an errand or complete a basic task for one character or another. On your map, ‘!‘ symbols indicate where you can initiate such missions. When you see the people with missions to offer, an eye symbol appears over their heads to make them easy to spot.
Finally, you can fill out anActivity Logby meeting certain requirements. For instance, you might eat every meal at a particular restaurant, walk a certain distance, or perform a common action a set number of times. There are quite a few of these activities available throughout your journey. Many of them are tied to your performance in mini-games. You’ll likely complete the bulk of those in the ‘Adventure’ category over the course of regular play.
Spending your points
As you complete requests and support activities, and even when you meet activity log requirements, you earn bounties that typically include bothAkame Pointsand yen. These bounties are vital to your continued success.Spend Akame Points to unlock new abilities and stat boosts, and to purchase items from Akame.
Most moves you might learn have an associated cost in both yen and Akame Points.It’s a good idea to Invest in the Akame Network at every opportunity.That way, you increase the yen and Akame Points you earn while beating gangs of thugs or performing other tasks.
By the time you reach the end of the game, you may very well have more Akame Points than you know what to do with. However, you may always use the excess to buy items to sell at the pawn shop for cash. In my own adventure, I found that I tended to have less money available than I did Akame Points. It all comes down to how you spend your time. In any case, it’s a good idea to get familiar with the Akame Network as early as possible. Nearly everything else flows from there.
