Anyone using theChimerajailbreak for iOS 12, theOdysseyjailbreak for iOS 13, theTaurinejailbreak for iOS 14, or theOdysseyra1nbootstrap on acheckra1n’d device will almost certainly want to launch the includedSileopackage manager and refresh their sources this morning, as it appears that a new version of libhooker is now available in the form of version 1.5.5.

Libhooker is the premiere tweak injection method for the aforementioned jailbreaks, and this means that all yourjailbreak tweaksand extensions depend on it to hook into system processes and make their intended magic happen.

Libhooker developer CoolStar announced the latest update to the tweak injection method and what was new with it early Wednesday morning via theSileo / Taurine / OdysseyDiscord channel:

Citing the change log, we can gather thatlibhookerversion 1.5.5 incorporates the following changes:

– Performance andbatterylife improvements (Taurine users should pair this update withTaurine version 1.0.2or later to take advantage of this)– Add support for hooking shorter functions– Fix edge cases with hooking certain functions– Add other secret goodies, such as maXscale support

Given the importance of libhooker on those jailbreaks that support it, we recommend that anyone using the Chimera, Odyssey, or Taurine jailbreaks (including Odysseyra1n) download and install the latest update at their earliest convenience.

Given the stigma thatjailbreakingoften has with relation to stability and battery life, which may or may not hold any water depending on the number of jailbreak tweaks you have installed at any given time, it’s a good idea to take advantage of updates that claim to improve these attributes.

If you’re using one of the supported jailbreaks above, then the new libhooker update is available from the Odyssey repository. You may need to refresh your sources to see it.

Have you downloaded and installed the latest version of libhooker yet? Be sure to let us know down in the comments section below.
