Today marks the 4th anniversary for NieR: Automata, which has now surpassed 5.5 million units shipped.

NieR: Automata Celebrates 4th Anniversary with Now Surpassing 5.5 Million Units Shipped

Square Enix has shared on NieR: Automata’s 4th anniversary, the Action-RPG has now shipped over 5.5 million units which include both digital and retail worldwide.

In a post on Twitter, the developer thanked fans for the overall support. The post reads (Google translated, original tweet below):

The cumulative worldwide shipment and download sales have exceeded 5.5 million units. Thank you for your support for 4 years. We are looking forward to hearing from you.

NieR: Automatais set in a world where androids are set to battle against the bio-machines who have invaded the planet. A new android infantry called theYoRHasquad are the last heroes to take down the invaders in this blend of action combat and dramatic story. While the game is a sequel to NieR players will not need to know what happened in the previous game but those who have played it will enjoy little easter eggs that pop up now and again.

The next game to release is a remaster or upgraded version, Nier: Replicant Ver 1.22474487139… The game receives a graphics upgrade as well as provides a smoother combat experience which brings it closer to that ofNieR Automata. The visuals have also be given a face-lift, taking advantage of the modern-day consoles’ capabilities. Replicant will be coming to PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on April 23.
