Warning! This article contains SPOILERS for Star Wars: The Acolyte episode 4.

Summary

There’s a lot that’s being added to theStar Warslore of the prequel trilogy inStar Wars: The Acolyte, and now the story has even spoken to Ki-Adi-Mundi’s iconic line inStar Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith. Ki-Adi-Mundi has made a surprising return to theStar Warsgalaxy inThe Acolyte, which takes place 100 years beforeStar Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace. Appearing as the younger version of himself inThe Acolyteepisode 4, Mundi surprisingly finds himself connected yet again to a Wookiee tragedy - unknowingly so.

Mundi’s legacy has been tied to Wookiees ever since he uttered the iconic line, “What about the droid attack on the Wookiees?” inRevenge of the Sith. With little else to go off of as such a minor character on theJedi Council, aside from the various tales told in theStar WarsLegendscontinuity, Mundi became remembered byStar Warsviewers for this line primarily. In light ofThe Acolyteepisode 4, however, this iconic and highly-memed line has earned an even funnier but darker twist.

Star Wars: How Old Is Ki-Adi-Mundi?

Jedi Master Ki-Adi-Mundi made his debut in The Phantom Menace, but his age has become surprisingly controversial in the Star Wars fandom.

Ki-Adi-Mundi’s Line Has Just Become A Whole Lot Funnier

What About The Attack On The Wookiee (Singular)?

The Acolyteepisode 4 has since revealed thatMundi’s memed line was not his first brush with an attack on the Wookiees - or, at least,aWookiee.Jedi Master Kelnacca, the first live-action Wookiee Jedi inStar Warshistory, was attacked by the secret Sith Lord inThe Acolyte. The incident led to Kelnacca’s death, before the assassinMaeor the Jedi who had set out to find her could even get to him. To add another layer to this connection between the two, Mundi was present when the Jedi discussed this mission taking place, though he didn’t tag along.

It Seems Like Mundi Will Deny Any Sith Connection To Kelnacca’s Death

Clearly, Mundi wasn’t bothered enough to seek out Kelnacca inThe Acolyte, which could be why he presses so hard about the Wookiees inRevenge of the Sith. Still, what’s likely to happen is that Mundi will write off Kelnacca’s death as the work of someone like Mae, and will - along with the rest of the Jedi - deny any connection to the Sith. His lack of willingness to dive further into Kelnacca’s death will thus contribute to the Jedi overlooking the Sith’s secret presence, which will lead him to utter his line about the Sith’s extinction inThe Phantom Menace.

While that darkness will almost certainly surround Kelnacca’s unfortunate death, there’s still quite a strong humor to all of this. The fact that an attack on a Wookiee happens in the same episode where Mundi appears for the first time in live-action sinceRevenge of the Sithis just downright hilarious. Mundi may not be too worried aboutthisattack on a Wookiee inThe Acolyte, but he will soon learn to grow more protective over the Wookiees - and will cement his legacy by doing so.
