There is no question as to what drove such high viewer numbers. Blizzard employed the Twitch Drop Program as a way toaward fans access to the PvP Beta. All fans needed to do was watch four hours of Overwatch 2 Beta gameplay from one of the partnered streamers, and they would receive a guaranteed invite to play the game for themselves.

It could be easy to assume that fans only watched to get access to the Beta, but even that shows just how excited players are to get their hands on Overwatch 2. With it breaking Overwatch’s own viewer record, it’s clear that the hype is still very much alive for more Overwatch.
