Resident Evil 9is expected to be announced this year, and a well-known survival horror insider claims it will be a groundbreaking entry in the franchise, comparable to the impact ofResident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 7.
Resident Evil 9 Will Redefine the Franchise
Dusk Golem recently posted on X/Twitter, stating that he will be focusing on Silent Hill, another franchise he loves, especially after the reveal of Silent Hill f. However, he also acknowledged the long wait for Resident Evil news, telling Capcom fans who follow his account: “I know many people are anxious due to the lack of Resident Evil updates for the past year and a half.”
When people see RE9, they will understand why it has taken so long. It’s a major reinvention of the series, on the same level as RE4 and RE7." Resident Evil 4 set the foundation for third-person action and influenced several sequels and the remakes of RE2 and RE3. Meanwhile, Resident Evil 7 shifted the series towards first-person horror, a style that continued in Resident Evil 8: Village.
An Ambitious and Unique Gameplay Experience
According to Dusk Golem, Resident Evil 9 will not play like Resident Evil 7 or 8, nor like the recent remakes. Instead, it will introduce new mechanics and be highly ambitious.
He has previously leaked thatDragon’s Dogma 2,Monster Hunter Wilds, and Resident Evil 9will feature dynamic open-world systems. While all three games started development around the same time, RE9 requires the longest production cycle. “Even though they are different, each game is innovating within its own DNA,” he explained.
Earlier this year, the insider also debunked several circulating rumors about RE9, including speculation about Jill Valentine’s role: “She does not have a major presence in RE9, unfortunately.”
