Phase 1Skalpel Patterns
Skalpelwould open the fight just by using his sword, having long delays between his swings. Not muchplague build-upappears at this stage, though he can be staggered. The fastest method is to keep heavy striking into corners and walls to prevent his lunge attacks and higher hitting combos, utilizingBrutal StrikeswhenSkalpelis exhausted.
Skalpel Advanced Patterns
At 50% of his health,Skalpelimbues his attacks withplagueand begins to switch it up with hiscoffin-based attacks. He’ll power up his attacks withplague-colored firebefore usingCoffin Joyridefirst, hopping on top of his coffin and driving his sword into the top of the coffin as it charges towardsKhazan.The coffin will usually charge three times before it liftsSkalpelinto the air as vines launch out of the open coffin and slam the coffin into the ground, dodge out of the impact zone, and get behindSkalpelto dealheavy damage.
His attacks are still delayed by about 3–5 seconds. Take that into account, as his combos increase in number, yet remain the same movement-wise wise with one upward, then a sideward, alternating left and right swings. Make sure to take aPlague Resistance Potionregularly to preventplague builduponKhazan, and have somecleanseson hand for quickplague bar depletion.

On the depletion ofSkalpels' health bar, red arms and hands will drag his corpse inside the coffin, and amission-completescreen flashes briefly. Do not relax yet, as seconds after that screen,Skalpelwill burst out of the coffin, horribly mutated with a fully replenished health and stamina bar. However, this last phase is on a self-destructing timer asSkalpelis losing health slowly throughout this phase. While his attacks hit harder, he still follows the same rhythm as the previous twophases.Have at least 2 healing items left by thisphaseof the fight.
You have a few options. If you havehigh stamina,you could potentially outrunSkalpelfor the duration of the fight and not need to land any other hit on him until the very end of his health bar to finish up, though that will still take up to ten minutes for the bar to fully deplete naturally. If you prefer the current method, bait outSkalpel’sunblockable attacks, as once the coffin touches the ground on the third slam, you’ll get an opening for hard-hitting fast attacks, easier if you have aGreatsword,but it works with any weapon set. Focus on his back, and if you have aPlague Resistance Potionin effect, you can skip dogging his swings and time yourBrink Blocksinstead to take large chunks out of his stamina bar. In a few minutes, whether byKhazan’sinterference or by time,Skalpelwill fall and not move again.
