Soon, WWE wrestlers The Undertaker and Cody Rhodes will be fighting the likes of Goku, Batman, and Aang inFortnitewhen they become available in the game, starting Friday. This co-incides with WrestleMania officially beginning this weekend, acting as a great way to promote the major event (and make some money on the side).
New WWE Wrestlers Join the Battle Royale
Before Cody Rhodes faces John Cena at WrestleMania in Las Vegas, Nevada, wrestling fans and Fortnite players can play as the American Nightmare on Friday. Both characters will be available on the store for purchase. The Undertaker dons his classic Deadman persona, while Rhodes wears his WrestleMania 40 attire in Epic Games' Fortnite.
Epic Games released a trailer teasing The Undertaker in Fortnite, squeezing one of the heads of the fish characters from the battle royale and piledriving them to the ground. It’s quite strange that the current WWE champion isn’t even mentioned in the trailer’s description or title on YouTube by the official Fortnite channel.
Unfortunately, no new female characters have been announced for the WWE Fortnite collab. It would have been great to see characters like Chelsea Green, Rhea Ripley, or Iyo Sky hop out of the Battle Bus. However, a past WWE collab with Fortnite includes Becky Lynch and Bianca Belair as playable characters in the game. Despite some rumours claiming that he can’t be seen, John Cena is also available as a skin in Fortnite, complete with the hand-based emote and U Can’t See Me hand as a pickaxe.
Fortnite isn’t the only battle royale with wrestlers jumping into the spotlight. PUBG Mobile will be includingTNA’s Joe Hendryin the game. Hendry does say, however, that he wants tobecome a part of Fortniteas well. It will be interesting to see if AEW jumps into the mix. It has characters like Kenny Omega, Darby Allin, MJF, “Timeless” Toni Storm, and Mercedes Mone that would fit well with alternate styles that can be offered in this gaming genre.
Fortnite is Going Strong
Fortnite continues tobring major crossoversinto the mix. Last week, Adventure Time characters such as Jake and Finn became available to purchase as Fortnite fighters. They now join other cartoon legends in Fortnite, including Zuko, Vegeta,Deku, Naruto, and Rick. It’s quite a whacky build-up of characters that continues to grow. Even DC and Marvel heroes are co-existing in the same universe alongside the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Who knows? Maybe the Power Rangers will join them. Fortnite has grown its variety of modes, as well. It now has Lego Fortnite, a driving take on Rocket League called Rocket Racing, and a Rock Band-like mode called Fortnite Festival. Seeing Cody Rhodes jamming out on the bass guitar, whileSabrina Carpenteris singing will be cool.
Fortnite: Top 10 Marvel Skins
Fortnite is continuously adding new Marvel characters such as Black Cat and Sabertooth. This raises a question: which one is best?
WWE has a Busy Weekend
New WWE superstars in Fortnite would usually be a big deal, but WrestleMania is taking up most of the company’s attention this week. The Super Bowl of the wrestling world is taking place over two nights. Major clashes include a newly heel John Cena fighting for the Undisputed Championship against Cody Rhodes, Iyo Sky defending her title against Bianca Belair and Rhea Ripley, and Gunther taking on “Main Event” Jey Uso. It should be an exciting event, despite a disappointing buildup.
